Influenced by a Japanese aesthetic, this north campus haven (Indian School Road and Girard Blvd NE) houses bonsai pots, local artist's pieces, hundreds of ceramics, block prints depicting Kyoto and the American Southwest, Korean reproduction, and mid-century modern furniture. The property has a large artist's studio with screen printing supplies, canvas frames, Japanese printed paper, and picture frames.
About the Artist
The homeowner, C. Gardner, was born in Richmond, Virginia, and was active in high school arts and stage design at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Theater. She earned her BA in Anthropology from the University of Denver in 1961. In 1963, she and her husband Melvin moved to the Navajo Reservation until 1975 when the Gardners moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Largely self-taught, Connie studied oil painting briefly with Palo Alto artists Miller McDaniel and Richard Bowman, pastel portraits with Ben Konis, and watercolor with José Sanchez. Studying art in the summer of 1980 at La Romita School of Art in Terni, Italy added Italian subjects to the Southwest themes.
She was a Master Bonsai artist honored by the Albuquerque Bonsai Club for her years of educating and first in category at the annual Mother's Day bonsai event.
Although our prices are always fair, we will try to honor this family's estate with a profitable sale.
